Shimmering in the afternoon sun, clear blue water washes against towering gradient red gold and orange rock canyon walls. The red sandy beaches beckon for visitors to put ashore and explore. Lake Powell is more than just a lake, everyday is an adventure… This post is a cumulation of the many boat trips we’ve taken to Lake Powell through the years.
Lake Powell is the second largest lake in the United States. Lake Mead being the First.
1. Lake Mead (Arizona and Nevada) — 28.5 million acre-feet in volume
2. Lake Powell (Arizona and Utah) — 24.3 million acre-feet in volume
“Lake Powell is 186 miles long and has 1,960 miles of shoreline, which is longer than the entire west coast of the continental United States. There are 96 major canyons to explore though you’ll need a water craft for the majority of them since access is limited because there are few roads.”-Lake Powell Guide.com-
